
Marina Lambrini Diamandis, known by her nickname Marina and formerly under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds, is a Gallo-Greek singer, songwriter, composer and record producer. Born in Brynmawr to a Welsh mother and Greek father, Diamandis grew up in Abergavenny and moved to London as a teenager to become a professional singer, despite limited musical experience. In 2009, she stood out for second place in BBC's Sound of 2010. Her debut studio album, The Family Jewels, combines indie pop style and the new wave of music. It entered the UK Album Chart at No.5 and has been certified gold by the UK recording industry. The album's second single, “Hollywood”, peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
