Caspar Lee has hit another YouTube milestone, reaching over 7 million subscribers on the video sharing site.

The South African YouTuber took to Twitter to share the news and to thank fans for what he’s been able to experience over the years.

“Hi guys, I just wanted to say something a little longer than the length of a tweet about reaching 7 million subscribers on YouTube. Firstly, WOW WTF OMG!?! I started making videos from my bedroom while living in a small town called Knysna in South Africa. I did it because I was bored and just loved watching vids. I thought I might end up with a few hundred people watching if I was lucky.

“Around 6 years later there are now a lot more than that! I’ve made the best friends ever and learnt so much. The experiences that have been handed to me because of the support of my viewers have been priceless.

“From filming movies in America to touring down under, creating a production company and currently being able to go on an incredible holiday with my four best mates – I can truly say I’m the luckiest kid on the earth – THANK-YOU 7 MILLION TIMES :)”

Caspar’s channel, dicasp, was created in November 2011. To date, he has garnered over 690 million views. He also has a second channel, morecaspar, with almost two million subscribers and over 100 million views.

Since launching his YouTube channel, Caspar has been a prominent member of the YouTube community, collaborating with famous faces and many of his fellow YouTubers. These include good friends Joe Sugg, Conor Maynard and Jack Maynard, as well as Robbie Williams, Cara Delevingne, and Maisie Williams.

In 2014, Caspar was part of the YouTube Boyband, alongside Joe Sugg, Alfie Deyes, Marcus Butler and Jim Chapman. They recorded a cover version of McFly’s ‘It’s All About You’, in aid of Sport Relief.

2015 saw Caspar team up with Joe again, this time for Joe and Caspar Hit the Road. The comedy documentary featured the pair going on a road trip around Europe, taking up jobs along the way. It was released on DVD and became the fastest selling pre-ordered DVD of 2015. The pair also launched Raucous Productions, which aims to produce content for both on and off YouTube.

Earlier this year, Caspar released his own book, a biography written by himself and his mother, Emily Riordan Lee. He also starred in a film called Laid in America alongside fellow YouTuber KSI. Additionally, Caspar teamed up with Joe once again for Joe and Caspar Hit the Road USA, which was released on DVD in November. The duo also toured the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
