Many thought This is Us star Chrissy Metz, 38, was not a fan of Glow actress Alison Brie, 36, after the red carpet of the 2019 Golden Globes.

Metz was being interviewed by pre-show host AJ Gibson, and she reportedly thought her mic was off when she apparently called Brie “a bi–h.” The Internet went wild over the so-called diss.

Except, the audio is not very clear, and some people also thought she said “babe” when she was asked for her thoughts on Dave Franco’s wife’s stunning looks at the awards show.

Gibson was quick to defend the Metz. He told Page Six: “I was standing on stage with Chrissy and thought she called Alison a babe. Chrissy is one of the kindest women in Hollywood and is so supportive of other talented women. If she did happen to use the ‘other’ word, I promise it was 1,000 percent a joke.”

The actress of the NBC series also slammed those who pushed the controversy in the media and added: “It’s terribly unfortunate anyone would think much less run a story that was completely fabricated! I adore Alison and would never say a bad word about her, or anyone! I sure hope she knows my heart.”

When Brie first heard about the remark, she was surprised and told Vanity Fair: “But why?. I know her. I saw her on the carpet, and I told her how beautiful she looked.”

Later on, the Community star tried to put the drama behind her with the following statement on Instagram: “Nothing but love for @chrissymetz!!. Rumors can’t keep us down!”

Fans have taken to social media to defend Metz who always had a positive image. They also blasted the media for running with the story in the first place.

Some supporters of President Donald Trump even saw a parallel in his situation with the press. Although, the president is often very proud of the controversies surrounding his administration.

A Trump backer stated: “Oh how media twists the truth. Now you know how our POTUS must feel.”

Another one added: “Now you know how President Trump feels……”
