The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out on Wednesday for a tour of the 282 East Ham Squadron Air Training Corps. The Duke of Edinburgh was the Honorary Air Commodore-in-Chief for decades before he handed the patronage off to Kate in 2015. I remember when that happened too! It happened just before Christmas that year, and the handing-off had the feel of the Queen and Philip trapping Kate at the palace and foisting the patronage upon her. It was pretty funny. What’s interesting is that this event was technically Kate’s alone, since she’s the patron of the Air Cadets. That means that William tagged along on one of her events yet again. He’s been doing that a lot! I think it speaks to how little William has going on, patronage-wise, and how the Keens are terrified of Kate being asked a difficult question.
As for the fashion, Kate did a repeat. This is a Dolce & Gabbana coat which she wore to the 2017 Remembrance Day royal event at the Cenotaph. She was pregnant when she wore it then, which might be why I’m getting preggo-vibes from her in these photos. Like, the coat was tailored originally to give her some room in the mid-section. That being said, her face seems… softer. Is she knocked up again? Pregnant… with shiny gold buttons. The buttons are her babies now.
As for William, he’s been super-focused on the football (soccer) drama in Europe this week. I can’t even really explain what’s going on, but I think it was a case where the richest teams/clubs wanted to create their own “super league” where they would just play each other and keep all of the money and not share with the clubs with less resources. Like, a special football-club oligarchy. Since football is one of the few things William is truly keen about, he did two personal tweets about it, one tweet when the super league thing was just being announced, and one tweet when the super league died a swift death. Does he think this makes him look blokey? It makes him look like a lightweight. He cares enough to do personal tweets about football, but not about… other stuff which is much more important.
Now, more than ever, we must protect the entire football community – from the top level to the grassroots – and the values of competition and fairness at its core.
I share the concerns of fans about the proposed Super League and the damage it risks causing to the game we love. W

I’m glad the united voice of football fans has been heard and listened to. It is now really important that we use this moment to secure the future health of the game at all levels. As President of the FA, I’m committed to playing my part in that work. W
